PROJECT OVERVIEW

CPB Contractors have been awarded the Refinery Crane Replacement Project for BHP at Olympic Dam. This involves the assembly and installation of a new overhead bridge crane within the electrorefining tank house. The new crane to be installed will replace the existing EDI crane as the primary crane, leaving the JP crane to operate as the stand-by backup.

The work involves

• Erecting a temporary structure at the western end of the tank house and dismantling of the structure at the end of the project;

• Erecting the new Refinery crane;

• Dismantling and reinstating a section of the tank house western end wall and roof;

• Modifications to the tank house building at the eastern end; and

• Modifications to the existing tank house JP crane.
